Dear 32 Year Old Me | A Self Love Challenge

If you've made it to this post, I’m assuming you’re considering entering the self love challenge I’m doing for Valentine’s Day 2026. As promised, I’m posting an example of what I’m looking for below. This is a letter to myself a few year ago when my husband left me and I truly thought I was going to drown. We’re stronger than we think and when it all goes to shit it’s so easy to forget that. I hope you’ll join me in this challenge and get a little boost of badassery (yes, I made that word up) when you hit ‘submit’.

You’re amazing. Please never forget that.

Dear 32 Year Old Me,

Your entire life is falling apart. Your husband has left you and you think there’s no way you’ll survive this. You’re clinging to something and someone who isn’t real anymore. You’re desperate and positive there’s no way out of this. Financially, you’ve been dependent on someone else most of your life. You’ve clung to someone who couldn’t give you what you needed, but desperate for love you stayed. You’re searching for any answer to this, to fix the situation so you can go back to being comfortable in a space you know was never meant for you. You’ve overstayed your welcome in this season of life and you know it, but you’re in denial. You cannot imagine a life beyond what you have now. You are crumbling.

3 years later..you’re doing things you could never imagine. You left Alaska and moved to a new city with only a few people you knew. You left your bubble, your home that you loved so much, and yes it hurt..a lot. It was probably one of the most painful things you’ve ever done, but you survived. You’re not financially dependent on anyone. You started a whole new business venture you never knew possible and have made boudoir photography your main source of income. You’re 100% self employed and no one is paying your bills but you. The craziest part? You actually found a partner that is everything you needed but you were sure didn’t exist. Turns out there ARE men that have the same values as you. There ARE men who enjoy the things that you do. There IS someone who will shower you with love even though you still don’t feel like you deserve it most days.

I’m so proud of you/us. You can do anything. Now you’re moving back home (something you would’ve NEVER done before) because you know you’re capable of thriving anywhere.

You’re a bad ass and I can’t even imagine where life will take us next.

Love,

Ashton
